📍 If you’re in South Wales and fancy joining us in person, we’ll be on the beach — you’re warmly welcome to walk with us, enjoy the view, and help keep the shore clean.

We will post a confirmation 2–3 days beforehand in case weather conditions mean we need to reschedule.

Final January 2026 Baking — Traditional Kuih Bakar Night

It’s time to finish January with something sweet, cultural — and deeply comforting. Join us for our final baking livestream in January as we make a traditional Kuih Bakar: a circular, leaf-patterned baked cake (often moulded in a classic “flower/leaf” motif in its traditional form).

This session is a live, step-by-step demonstration: we’ll mix, bake, and show you how to get that signature golden-crusted top and moist, fragrant interior — perfect for pairing with tea or a cosy evening treat.

You’ve worked hard this month — maybe shaken off a few pounds, reset your habits — and now it’s time to reward yourself: a little indulgence, a sweet finish to January before February begins.

What you’ll get from this class:

  • A walk-through of a traditional recipe for Kuih Bakar — including mixing, moulding, baking, and finishing.

  • Tips for getting the classic “leaf-patterned” shape if you use a traditional mould.

  • A relaxing, cultural baking experience with aromatic flavours (pandan / coconut / egg / sweetness) and a sense of heritage.

  • A warm, inviting treat — ideal as a “sweet self-care bonus” after a month of good routines.

Whether you follow along or simply watch, you’ll discover how a simple, baked kueh can carry tradition, flavour and comfort — right from your own kitchen.

Let’s end January with warmth, sweetness and a little baked nostalgia. 🍵

First Full Moon of 2026 — “Wolf Moon” Telescope Livestream
Jan

First Full Moon of 2026 — “Wolf Moon” Telescope Livestream

Join us for our first livestream of 2026 as we observe the year’s first full moon — the classic Wolf Moon. The “Wolf Moon” gets its name from old winter legends: January’s full moon was traditionally when packs of wolves were said to howl through cold, snowy nights, searching for food or signalling to each other.

With the telescope pointed skyward, we’ll share live views of the lunar surface — craters, mare, shadows — and watch as the full moon climbs over the horizon. Expect relaxed commentary, occasional star-hopping (if clouds and light pollution allow), and a cozy, atmospheric winter-night vibe.

Whether you’re an experienced stargazer or just moon-curious, bring a hot drink, settle in, and enjoy the lunar light show.

Few Fun Bits of Moon Lore

  • The term Wolf Moon is one of many traditional full moon names assigned to each month — a naming tradition rooted in Native American and early European folklore.

  • In 2026, the full moon on 3 January will indeed be the Wolf Moon — the first full moon of the year.

  • As a bit of historical context, back in 2013 the first full moon of the year was also called the Wolf Moon: that occurred on 26 January 2013 (in US Eastern time).
