FAQs retreat access

  • Q: Who gets free retreat access?

A: Retreat access is a core benefit of Golden Horizons and Endless Summer memberships.

Golden Horizons: 3 days / 2 nights in year one, increasing annually up to a maximum of 8 days / 7 nights.

Endless Summer: 5 days / 4 nights each year, for life.

Other tiers (e.g. Settled Skies) can purchase wellness stays at the same cottages.

  • Q: How do bookings work?

A: Retreats operate differently from typical holidays. They are designed for when you need rest now, not something planned a year ahead.

    The calendar opens quarterly.

Bookings can be made up to 3 months in advance only.

Priority is given to Golden Horizons and Endless Summer members, with loyalty increasing your priority the longer you’ve been subscribed.

Stays are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Q: Can I extend my stay beyond my annual entitlement?

A: Yes, you can request extra nights:

If availability exists within the current month, additional nights can be booked at cost.

Long-term bookings (2–3 months ahead) are limited to your entitlement only.

  • Q: What are the cottages like?

A: Retreats are set in dark-sky locations, often near the ocean, estuaries, or rugged coastlines. They are curated for wellness, not luxury tourism. Expect:

Simple but comfortable cottages with heating, fresh bedding, and towels.

Provisions on arrival (pastries, coffee, teas).

Kitchen for self-catering, with optional HelloFresh meal kits.

Fireplaces, wellness boxes (puzzles, creative tools), and a small reading library.

Umbrellas and ponchos for bracing weather.

  • Q: What will I do at a retreat?

A: The retreat is yours to shape. Some members stay indoors and do nothing. Others follow suggested itineraries for:

    Ocean and woodland walks.

    Collecting geocache stamps.

    Photography and mindful exploration.

Stargazing or live astrophotography with our digital telescope.

Joining community live-streams from the cottage.

  • Q: How do I check in?

A: Retreats run like Airbnb stays:

    Check-in is from 3pm, check-out is 11am.

You’ll receive joining instructions and a short pre-stay call to ensure everything is in place.

Cottages are private, not shared with other members.

  • Q: Are retreats available year-round?

A: Yes, retreats are open 350 nights a year. You can choose the season that suits you: bracing winter skies, long summer evenings, or autumn storms.

  • Q: What is and isn’t included?

    A:

    Included:

Accommodation, heating, bedding, towels, provisions, internet access (which you can switch off if you wish).

    Not included:

Food (except arrival provisions). You may bring your own or order meal kits.

Transport to and from the retreat.

  • Q: Can couples or families come?

A: Memberships are individual by default, but couples and family memberships are available on request, with costs adjusted for additional provisions.

  • Q: Why retreats, and not just online support?

A: Because sometimes self-care requires more than a pause in your day. Retreats provide a reset button: time out of place, under dark skies, where you can breathe differently and return home steadier.
